Accessibility
Welcome to the Accessibility pages of the Big Black Book. Here you will find information
on various web technologies and techniques we hope will improve your web browsing
experience.
We believe our pages conform to Web Accessibility level 1, with some features from level 2
which are listed below. If you feel some key features are missing however, please contact us.
(These points are taken from this page)
Level 1 requirements
- 1.1) All content (images/scripts etc) use alternative text if turned off (structural/display images do not)
- 2.1) Our site does not rely on colour alone at any point & colours should be a good contrast
- 4.1) All our pages are English and should not quote in any other language
- 6.1) All our pages will work and make sense if you have StyleSheets turned off
- 6.2) Only our scripts use "dynamic content" and therefore our pages should be updated at the same
pace as a normal page
- 7.1) We do not use flickering images or content
- 14.1) We aim to use the most simplest language on our site - should you disagree, please
let us know.
- 12.1) Our frames used when visiting an external site are named, titled and have an
alternative if not viewable
- Please note however that our forum has been designed by an external
source, and as such we cannot verify if it meets these levels.
Additional features
- 2.2) All pages contrast in terms of images and colours
- 3.1) We do not use markup languages (such as for Maths)
- 3.2/11.1/11.2) Most pages are XHTML 1.0 (strict) and CSS valid
- 3.3) We use stylesheets for presentation/layout rather than tables
- 10.1) We do not use popup windows which the user will not know about. This will be mentioned in either the link title or link description.
- 12.2) We do not provide a frame description as in point 12.1 above as our
titles give a clear explanation of the pages. If you disagree, please let us
know.
- 7.5) We do not use automatic redirects via META tags. If anything this will
be done via the server
